Embrace the Camera: Cherry Blossom Festival

On Sunday night Heath and I took the little man to the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. We had such a wonderful time together (I will write more about that later). Heath took these pictures of us at the end of the night just before we left. I adore these pictures even though I look a terrible mess in them. Our mouths are blue from eating an Italian ice. What a perfect moment to embrace the camera!

11 months

I am a little sad that we are finally to the 11 month post. The next time I do this I will no longer have a baby but, a toddler. Landon has grown and changed more this past month than any of the other months. He is starting to look less like a baby and more like a little boy. Here is what he has been doing over the past month

  • He wears 12 month clothes and size 3 shoe
  • Still only has 2 bottom teeth, I am starting to think that is all he is going to have.
  • He uses those tiny teeth to bite! Ugh!!! Where he learned this from, I have no idea. I also have no idea how to stop it.
  • This kid loves to eat! He will eat just about anything. He does still eat some baby food.
  • We are trying to be more careful about what we say because he tries to repeat everything.
  • He now signs "finished" he still isn't picking up on the "more" sign. Add that to his "milk" and "eat" for a total of 3
  • He tells the dogs to "Go, Go, GO!" and thinks it is super funny
  • Nothing is off limits now. He opens every drawer and cabinet within his reach. We will be apply child-proof locks very shortly.
  • He terrorizes the dogs on a daily basis. They don't seem to mind too much because they keep coming around.
  • He says"Mama","Dada", "Bye-Bye", "Dot" (Our cat's name) and "Balloon" on a regular basis and understands the meaning.
  • I love to watch him drive his car and make the "Brrrmmm" noise. It is so cute. He is fascinated with cars.
  • He loves to read books. I can set him in his room and he will read by himself for awhile.
  • SLEEP, glorious sleep! I now lay him down in his bed awake and he goes to sleep on his own. He sleeps from about 8:30 PM-8:00 AM. He will usually play quietly in his bed until I come and get him up. Sleep training has worked wonders.
  • He loves to see how things work.
  • He blows kisses and it's so darn cute.
  • I recently handed him his brush and he put it up to his head and attempted to brush his hair. Melt my heart
  • Speaking of hair, he is growing more each day and it is a beautiful, white blonde.
  • He has the perfect mix of up time and down time. His up time is exhausting...mostly me chasing him around. I adore his down time, he will sit in my lap and read books or just cuddle. This is my favorite part of the day.
  • He has taken his first steps but is still not walking on his own. I think by his birthday he will be.
  • On a separate note, Birthday party planning is in full swing!!!

Oh, sweet Landon. I truly cannot believe you have been in our lives for almost a year now. I cannot imagine life with out you. I love to see your sparkling eyes each morning and to kiss your sweet cheeks at night. Watching you grow has been one of the most amazing things ever. I love to see you do something new. Thank you for filling our life with such joy baby boy.

My Child is a work of A.R.T.

My sweet little Landon is a work of A.R.T.

Well, yes, he is also a work of art too!

What I am referring to though is A.R.T. or Assisted Reproductive Technology. Of course, if you read my blog often then you already know that.

Struggling with infertility is one of the most difficult things I have had to go through in my life. Without fertility treatments he would most likely not be here. I am so thankful I had the opportunity to try and that it was successful.

There are many others who are struggling as well. One in eight couples are battling infertility. RESOLVE is a non-profit organization designed to promote reproductive health and to ensure equal access to all family building options for men and women experiencing infertility or other reproductive disorders. You can read more about them here.

This spring across the country, RESOLVE is hosting several fundraising walks called The Walk of Hope. It is a 1-mile walk that recognizes the many ways in which families are built, it helps supports local support groups and programs for the 7.3 million women and men living with infertility and raises public understanding of how the disease of infertility impacts families nationwide.

And, guess what?

One of the 3 walks just happens to be in Atlanta and I have a team (a very small team) that will be walking in it. Our team goal is to raise $500. Funds raised from the Walk support local RESOLVE programming which includes support groups and educational events, public awareness initiatives, and advocacy efforts to ensure family building options are available to all!

I am walking for my sweet beautiful baby boy!

I am walking for myself and for other mommies who have walked this same road that are now resolved.

I am walking for all my friends and family who still have empty arms. I know one day, ALL OF YOU will be resolved! Until then I am here for you because, even though I hold my baby boy I will not ever forget what it feels like to have a heart that is struggling with infertility.

We will be walking of Saturday, April 28th. If you would like to make a donation to our team you can go here to donate and click on the "Make a Gift" link. If you would like to walk with us click on the "Join Team" link. I REALLY want to reach our goal.

Thank you all so very much for all your support! I have one of the all time best support teams!

February Leftovers

I seriously have no time for blogging these days but, I still want to document L growing up. So, I am going to have to do some flash blogging to keep up. Here is some of the unseen from February.

Daddy and L waiting for the Super Bowl to start. Landon got his first taste of french fries and as one would suspect, he loved them!

Paw turned 97 this February. It's hard to believe there is almost a century between him and Landon. Here is Paw with all his loves!
Nanny made some yummy rice crispy treats for us. There was only one so Daddy and Landon had to share...
Yummy! I got a turn with it by myself!

You've got mail little man...
Landon opening up his Valentine mail.
What is this guy looking at?!?
Mommy and her sweet little Valentine. I wish I would have gotten a picture of his shirt. It says "Future Mr. Right"

Landon loves his doggie pals. Here he is with Jackson.
Oh, how we wish we could play outside.
We that is a quick look at our February. The month flew by in a flash. I can't believe it's already time to post L's 11 MONTH picture!!! Here does the time go....
