5 Months....Finally!

My little man turned 5 months over a week ago, I have just now had time to sit down to blog about it. Here is what has been going on over the past month.

  • He is 14lbs 12oz (17%) 26" (52%) and head is 16.5" (32%)...still long and lean.
  • This little guy can now roll from back to tummy. He rolls all over the house. I call him my roly poly man.
  • Once he rolls to where he wants to be, he rolls on to his back and then proceeds to kick at whatever it might be that he was interested in.
  • He went on his first vacation and he LOVED the pool. Not the ocean...just the pool.
  • We can now add Florida and Alabama to the list of states he has visited.
  • He loves to give kisses.
  • He is not yet sitting up but, it shouldn't be too much longer
  • This man flat out HATES...formula. He is so dramatic about it. I have had to supplement a few of his bottles. He gags, chokes, spits it out, makes face, looks at you like you have lost your mind. You would think we were killing him.
  • We have tried cereal but it seems to give him a tummy ache but, he loves to eat it so, we are currently trying a few different things to see if we can help avoid said tummy ache.
  • Landon adores Odie! Odie loves Landon! He cannot get enough of this stupid dog. He laughs so hard when he sees him and he giggles anytime Odie licks him...which is most of the time. If Landon is on the floor Odie is right next to him. I think I see lifelong friends here.
  • Everything and I mean EVERYTHING goes in his mouth!
  • He is still in 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers
Sweet Baby Boy,
I cannot believe you have been here for 5 months already. You fill my heart with joy every single day! Oh how I love you!

Embrace the Camera: For the First time...

Since Landon has been born I have spent most of my time behind the camera. The pictures I do have of me with him are most often when my hair is done, make-up on and I make sure that you have got my "good angle". There were not really any pictures of me just being a mom.

A month or so ago I came across a blog that where I found out about "Embrace the Camera". I love the concept. The idea is to step out from behind the camera and allow someone else to shoot pictures of you, just the way you are...being a mom.

On vacation, Heath just happened to be taking pics of us when I wasn't paying attention. These are some of my favorite pictures, just me playing with Landon. After we got home and I saw these pictures I realized, I really am a mom. Not that I wasn't before but, it is different to see things in a picture, the way other people see you.

So, here I am "Embracing the Camera"...for the first time.

Now it's your turn!

4 Months Old

My sweet little man is now 4 months old I cannot believe how quickly this 4 months has passed. We adore him! He is truly one of the best babies ever. Here is what he is up to now.
  • He can sit up as long as he is supported, he loves to be upright.
  • Drooling is a constant thing. We go through several bibs a day
  • He just moved into size 2 diapers and is just now in 3-6 months clothing
  • "Tummy time" has now turned into "Rolling onto his back as quickly as possible time"
  • He is REALLY, REALLY close to being able to roll from his back to tummy
  • He sleeps in his crib at night for about 7 hours and usually goes to sleep around midnight.
  • In the morning he loves to lay in bed with me and quietly talk and play with my face
  • He puts everything he can get his hands on in his mouth
  • Loves to play with his feet and has recently realized he can pull his socks off
  • He has taken his first road trip to Tennessee to see Grandpa
  • He laughs out loud and giggles all the time
  • He is very ticklish
  • You have to be on your toes with him now because he will grab your hair or earrings in a second. Heath has to worry about neither of these things.
  • We are about to have to say goodbye to the baby bathtub because he splashes so much when he is in there that I am usually soaked and so is the floor
Here is my sweet baby boy. He is just the cutest thing, don't you think?!?

Leaving the Nest...

...Ok, so I know Landon didn't actually "Leave the Nest" but it feels like it. I feel like I dropped him off at college. I had no idea moving him across the house to his own room would be so hard...on me!! I have put it off for awhile because I wasn't ready yet but, seeing as how he is getting too big for his cradle I had to suck it up and move him out.

Before he was born we bought a video monitor for this very moment. Somehow, having the monitor didn't make me feel any better about it. The only thing it did do was keep me for going into his room every 15 minutes to make sure he was still breathing. I could just look at the monitor every 5 minutes to check!

Friday night I got him good and sleepy and put him in his bed around midnight. I chose to do this on a night when I was off the next day because I was sure I would be up several times through the night. He went to sleep pretty quickly and then slept...for the next 7 hours. Don't get me wrong, he did stir a little through the night, but he never full woke up until he was ready to eat at 7:00 AM. I was shocked. I think he loved being able to stretch out and move around. He got a great nights sleep and I was exhausted. Even when I slept, I didn't fully go to sleep, afraid that I wouldn't hear him. After he ate at 7 I moved him into the bed with me, just because I needed to cuddle.

On Saturday, I put him down for his naps in his bed and he went right to sleep again. Once, when he woke up he just laid there and played with the bumper pad until I came to get him. Part of me wishes he would have taken this a little harder. Cried to be with me a little or something but, he didn't. My little man is growing up and it won't be long till he really is leaving the nest...for that I will need a sedative!

One Year Later...

One year ago today, Heath and I stood in amazement,

looking at this....

and this morning, one year later, we still stand in amazement,

looking at this...

Thank you God for our miracle!
