2 Month Stats...and laughing!

My little man finally went for his 2 month appointment today and here is where he stands...

  • He is 12lbs 15oz, which puts him in the 20th percentile and that shocks me because he seems chubby!
  • He is now 25" long, which is the 90th percentile so, that means he is actually long and lean! Who knew?!?
  • His head was 15" for the 32 percentile...he is on the smaller side like his cousin Presley.
  • He is on target for all social and motor development
After all the fun stuff he got 6 immunizations that involved 5 separate shots and on set of drops. He actually cried very little, he was a little champ. After I looked over the papers about all the immunizations they were giving him I wasn't certain they were such a good idea. It seems crazy to injected my baby with these diseases and hope his little body fights them off. I know I am supposed to do it but I REALLY don't like the idea of it. I never thought I would be one of "those" moms. He is doing really well so far, he has preferred to stay cuddled up next to me and has been snoozing off and on since we got home. At least we have 2 more months before we have to do it again.

Oh, I almost forgot, last night after singing a beautiful and apparently rather entertaining rendition of the "Bumble Bee Song" I got my first out loud laugh from Landon. It surprised me so much I had to process it for a minute. I thought my song deserved an encore and guess what...another laugh at the appropriate moment. Which caused me to continue to sing the song about another 100 or so times...with no laugh. That chuckle was probably the cutest thing I have ever seen! Poor daddy has yet to hear it, hopefully he will soon before the magic of the bumble bee wears off!

2 Months Old

I cannot believe Landon is already two months old. This is going too fast for me. One thing is for sure, we have had a blast over the last two months. Landon hasn't been for his Dr's appointment this month, it is not for another couple of weeks. So, I don't have his updated stats but, here is what he has been up to this past month.
  • Landon dropped on of his night time feedings so he now eats around midnight and then kindly sleeps for the next 6 - 7 hours. I really like this achievement
  • He took his first airplane ride to Texas to meet all the rest of the family (more on this one in my next post
  • Newborn size diapers are thing of the past and we are now on to Size 1's
  • He can no longer wear newborn size clothes he is in 0-3 months but, I don't think we will be there for long. I swear he looks bigger ever morning.
  • He has started smiling at you...if he is in a good mood and has a little laugh.
  • He works really hard to "talk" to you and makes the sweetest little noises
  • Bright colors and lights keep him occupied for quite awhile.
  • He loves Baby Einstein and hates tummy time.
  • This little man is STRONG! He holds his head up perfectly, he prefers to sit up and constantly tries to push off of you with his feet.
  • He is a bubble blower, we constantly are wiping bubble foam off his mouth.
  • Bath time is still, by far, his favorite thing. He also thinks anytime you take his clothes off that it is bath time and starts kicking his legs like a madman. Once in the tub the kicking continues until time to get out.
Oh sweet Landon,

You have changed our lives so much in just 2 short months. I can no longer imagine our life without you. You have made Daddy and I happier than we ever thought possible. We can not wait to see the amazing things you will do in this world. We love you to the moon and back!

Love, Mommy

And now...here he is....my big 2 month old baby boy!!!

Favorite Things Friday: New Mommy Necessities!

Since becoming a mommy there have been a few things that I have found that I can't live without. Ok, maybe I could live without them but, things would not be nearly as pleasant if I didn't have them. Some of these things are life savers, others are time savers. I just wanted to share a few of my new favorite things with you.

The Cloud-B Giraffe sound machine has been fabulous! Landon gets a little grouchy right before going to sleep and sometimes he doesn't get into a deep sleep. If we turn his giraffe on he is out and in a deep sleep in a matter of minutes. We use it every day. It truly works miracles!

One of my other favorite things are swaddle blankets from aiden + anias. My mom bought us these blankets right after I found out I was pregnant. These blankets are so soft and gauzy. You can open them up completely for a thinner blanket or fold them up for a thicker blanket. They are by
far the best thing to swaddle your little one in.

We also have the Fisher Price Rock n' Play Sleeper. Landon currently sleeps in this in our bedroom. We pull him right up beside the bed. It has been perfect for me with all my "new mommy worries" at night. I don't have to get out of bed to check on him. Pretty soon he will have to move to his own room but, for now he is cozy next to me. We also pull it from room to room so he can sit in it wherever we are. Landon loves to snuggle down in it. There are several mommies out there that I know love this as much as I do and could not have survived without it.

For those breastfeeding mommies out there this one is a "must have"! I keep the Medela Harmony Pump in my diaper bag. It is small and light weight. It is so much easier than carrying around the electric pump and I can always have it with me. I cannot tell you how many times I have used this when he was crying in the car and it is perfect to travel with.

Last, but not least. I no longer have time to sit around while my nails dry so, Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Polish is my new favorite. It literally dries instantly. Now I can polish my nails while he is taking a cat nap and don't have to worry about messing up my nails should he suddenly wake up.
