New Born Pictures

Yes, I realize my child is now almost 7 weeks old (If that is even possible!!) and I am just now sharing our newborn pictures that my sister-in-law, Ashlie took for us. Landon was just 10 days old when she took these. They are incredible...and I am not just referring to the subject matter. As usual, she did a fantastic job, I cannot stop looking at them! Thanks again Ashlie!

And now for your viewing pleasure!

Oh how I love that sweet face!!!

Wordless Wednesday: My First Mother's Day

Initiated in Motherhood

Before I was actually a mommy I knew that there would be days when gross things would happen. I expected to be tinkled on. I figured I would eventually have to clean poop off my shirt. I assumed I would have a little puke in my hair. Over the past month I have gracefully accepted all this minor hazing from my little boy but, last night I was officially initiated into motherhood.

Allow me to set the scene and walk you through my thought process.

Time: 6:00 AM

Scene: I was part way through an early morning feeding and Landon had fallen back asleep while I was trying to burp him. (Burping has been a bit challenging for us and sometimes we really have to work at it.) I went to change his diaper to wake him and hoped that the moving around would help him get his burp out. After changing the diaper I put him back on my shoulder and head back to the other room. Here is how the next minute or so played out.

I round the corner out of his room and he lets out a massive belch...

"Good Job buddy!"...

Odd gurgle noise follows...

I'm thinking What the heck is that...

Then a warm gush on my neck and shoulder...

Ugh! Gross! He just threw up on me!

Thank goodness it's not much.

Wait a minute, that's more than I think it is...

It starts to run down my spine...

I hurry to the other room to get a towel, only to realize it is now at the small of my back...

Great how am I going to get puke off my back!

I start to set him down so I can clean myself off and that is when the horror sets in!

OH NO!!! This can't be!

I can't set him down fast enough.

Just then it makes its way past the waist of my pajama pants.....

and down.....,

into......

my butt crack!!!

OMG!!! I have baby puke in my butt crack!!! How can baby puke travel that far!!!

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...

I immediately start trying to clean myself off.

Seriously! How is this possible!

It takes awhile to get it all off of me, while Landon is peacefully curled up in his bed.

This feeding is officially over!

For the record it is not easy to clean baby juice from between your shoulder blades by yourself.

I expected alot yuck from motherhood but NEVER expected there to be puke in MY butt crack.

I am officially a mommy!

1 month

How on earth is my sweet baby boy 1 month old already. It seems physically impossible. I feel like it was just yesterday that I looked into his beautiful eyes for the first time. He is getting so big!!!

We did not have a 1 month visit to the doctor so, I don't have any new stats to share at this time. Here is what we have been up to over the last month.
  • He eats about every 3 hours during the day and at night he has at least one stretch of 4-5 hours between feedings.
  • He holds his sweet little head up quite well. He is a strong boy.
  • If Heath or I are in the room he will follow us with his eyes wherever we go.
  • He is starting to prefer to be more upright than laying flat.
  • He loves to ride in the car and in his stroller
  • Some times he does not enjoy having to burp. If he decides he doesn't want to he gets very upset and will kick and arch his back so it makes it very difficult to actually burp him.
  • He LOVES bath time! He gets very alert and quiet when we start getting ready to take his bath. It is my favorite time of the day.
  • He is still in newborn diapers. He is also still in newborn size clothes but they are starting to get a little short.
  • He likes to sleep with his arms over his head or with his arms behind his head. It's so cute!
  • He loves to cuddle...which I REALLY love.
I will be going back to work in just 2 short weeks and it breaks my heart to think I won't be able to be with him all day long. I am very jealous of all you stay-at-home mommies right now! I want to spend every waking minute with him! I can't believe how deeply in love I have fallen in such a short amount of time.

Now you can see how much he has changed in just 4 short weeks.

I love you Baby Boy!!!
